Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree from the department of English literature. Mitchell began her career in the field of radio and television reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). In Washington she was made general reporter by NBC News two year later. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign correspondent for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell hosted and participated as an expert panelist on the TV show Meet the Press. She participated as a member of a panel discussion at the the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her work to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's initial White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. It was a time when both Ronald Reagan terms in office. She covered many notable stories such as arms control, the budget tax and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to numerous summits in the company of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
